U.S. President Donald Trump said in a televised address on July 16 that Russia is among the "adversaries" of the United States that are capable of influencing U.S. elections. A video of the address was shared by Fox 13.
Trump announced the declassification of intelligence documents which he said show that the country's election systems are "extremely vulnerable to attack."
"As one assessment states, we believe that U.S. adversaries-including, at a minimum, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, as well as non-state groups-have the capability to affect American election infrastructure," the U.S. president said.
Trump also said that, according to intelligence, China attempted to influence the 2018 U.S. midterm elections and the 2020 presidential election.
