Armenia, Georgia sign readmission agreement

Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan is leading a delegation to Georgia on a two-day visit, the ministry said in a press release.
During the official welcoming ceremony, Sargsyan and her Georgian counterpart Gela Geladze laid a wreath at the memorial honoring officers who were killed in the line of duty.
During the bilateral meeting held afterwards, Minister Geladze attached importance to the warm and friendly relations between the two countries and the ministries of interior. He said that frequent meetings contribute to the development of friendship and partnership.
The tactical communication between the law enforcement systems of the two countries is the most important tool in combating transnational crime, he said.
Minister Sargsyan emphasized that Armenia and Georgia not only share a common border but also have centuries-old friendship, strong cultural and strategic ties based on mutual respect between the two peoples. She expressed confidence that the ties between the two ministries will maximally strengthen during Minister Geladze’s tenure.
A number of directions pertaining to the ministries’ activities were discussed.
The ministers then signed a readmission agreement which will enable the countries to maximally effectively manage migration flows.
A private meeting between the two ministers was held afterwards.
