The EU has approved its 17th sanctions package against Russia, targeting nearly 200 "shadow fleet ships", EU’s top diplomat Kaja Kallas has said.
“New measures also address hybrid threats and human rights. More sanctions on Russia are in the works. The longer Russia wages war, the tougher our response,” the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said on X.
In a press release, the Council of the EU said it adopted the package of economic and individual restrictive measures “cutting off Russia’s access to key military technology and curbing Russia’s energy revenues that fuel its war of aggression against Ukraine, by heavily targeting Russia’s ‘shadow fleet’ of oil tankers, their operators, as well as a major Russian oil producer.”
