Armenia discusses Russian participation in Yerevan metro development

Armenia is discussing with Russia the possibility of Russian participation in the construction of the Ajapnyak metro station in Yerevan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

Speaking to reporters after a Cabinet meeting, the PM said the two sides are discussing Russia’s participation because of its extensive experience in the field.

“We are discussing with Russia the possibility of their participation in the construction of the Ajapnyak metro station, because they have extensive experience in this area, and we will be happy if they support us on this issue. And it’s not only about the Ajapnyak station. Ajapnyak is essentially the beginning of a new phase in the development of the Yerevan Metro. We will successfully build and complete this one station, and then we will build the second, third and so on. At this point, at least four new stations are envisioned, with the metro line running through Ajapnyak and Academic City and connecting to the Charbakh station, so that we have a circular metro service,” Pashinyan said.
