Armenia made several offers to Azerbaijan on signing peace treaty

Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan has said that Armenia continues efforts to achieve the signing of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan.
Asked at a press conference about the May 16 meeting between Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Tirana, Simonyan said such high-level contacts would continue.
“The discussions continue. There’s an agreement that it continues. I don’t rule out that soon [the discussions] will continue both in formats of leaders and foreign ministers. This is good news,” the Speaker said.
He noted that Armenia has made several proposals and these proposals cannot pose an obstacle for signing the peace agreement.
“The concerns raised by Azerbaijan do not exist in Armenia’s legal framework. But the discussions will continue, and we are moving in that direction,” he added.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have finalized the talks around the terms of the peace treaty. However, Azerbaijan has been stalling the signature by making preconditions, such as the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, which dealt with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement, and demanding Armenian constitutional changes by falsely claiming that the document contains territorial claims. Armenia has numerously said that it doesn’t have territorial claims against any country.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has offered Azerbaijan to sign the peace treaty and a request to the OSCE on disbanding the Minsk Group at the same time. Azerbaijan hasn’t responded.
