Commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide held in Clamart, France

Within the framework of the events commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide in France, an official ceremony dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was held in the city of Clamart near Paris, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in France said in a statement.

The Mayor of Clamart, Yves Coscas, and the Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in France, Shiraz Hovakimyan, delivered speeches at the opening of the event.

In memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide, Mayor Yves Coscas, Third Secretary Shiraz Hovakimyan, Deputy Prefect of Boulogne-Billancourt Benoit Trevisan, and representatives of local Armenian community organizations laid wreaths at the khachkar located in Clamart, which commemorates the memory of the innocent victims.

Wreaths were also laid on behalf of Senate Vice President Pierre Ouzoulias, Jean-Didier Bergey, former Mayor of Clamart and currently a member of the National Assembly, and Georges Siffredi, Head of the Hauts-de-Seine Department Council of France.

At the end of the event, a prayer of remembrance was offered by the leader of the Armenian Evangelical Church, Rev. Joël Mikaélian and Priest of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Issy-Les-Moulineaux, Father Avedis Balekian.

The national anthems of Armenia and France were played, followed by Charles Aznavour's "They Fell...".
