Armenian Culture Ministry, French theatre company “Saté-Âtre” sign memorandum of cooperation

A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and the French theatre company “Saté-Âtre.”

The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Tigran Virabyan and “Saté-Âtre” Director Satenik (Saté) Khachatryan.

The purpose of the memorandum is to strengthen and develop cultural cooperation between Armenia and France, particularly by promoting Armenian culture in France and French culture in Armenia, especially in the fields of contemporary dance and dramaturgy, the ministry said in a press release.

Deputy Minister Virabyan recalled the successful implementation of a number of important joint projects, particularly highlighting the French-Armenian production “The Color of Pomegranates,” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov (choreographer: Mourad Merzouki; concept: Saté Khachatryan). He emphasized the existing foundations for cooperation and expressed hope that they would be further strengthened through the implementation of all the provisions set out in the memorandum.

Under the memorandum, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports will provide institutional support to the company in implementing joint projects, contribute to the involvement of international and national partners, and more.

“Saté-Âtre,” in turn, undertakes to oversee the creative, production, and organizational processes related to the projects, contribute to their international dissemination, particularly in France, and develop new projects based on the ministry’s priorities and cultural strategy.

The parties plan to jointly develop cooperation programs for French-Armenian cultural exchange, develop educational programs for young artists, and organize master classes, creative laboratories, discussions, festivals, and other activities.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and the French theatre company “Saté-Âtre,” the dance performance “Kochar 360°,” dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Yervand Kochar (choreographer: Mourad Merzouki; concept: Saté Khachatryan), as well as the “Manouchian Week” project at the Artashat Theatre, have been implemented.
