Microchip Technology opens Yerevan office

Microchip Technology inaugurated on Monday its new office in Yerevan.

Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) CEO Sargis Karapetyan, Microchip Technology Senior Director of FPGA Software Development Rajeev Jayaraman and Vice President for Marketing, Strategy and Customer Applications at FPGA Business Unit Shakeel Peera attended the inauguration.

Microchip Technology executives are visiting Armenia to mark the new phase of investments and the opening of the office.

Executives of leading Armenian tech companies also attended the event.

Minister Hayrapetyan said the opening of the office by Microchip shows that the policies aiming at transforming Armenia into not only a regional but a global hub are giving desired results.

He highlighted the mutual benefits of the cooperation. “First of all, Armenia benefits because all of this is positively impacting our economic development, new jobs are opened. And this all also gives our industry access to global markets,” he said, highlighting the mutual benefits also in terms of the company involving new talents and expanding its industrial and research capabilities.

Hayrapetyan attached importance to Microchip’s presence not only in Yerevan but also elsewhere across the country. “With time, we shall introduce additional tools to promote the activities of not only various local but also transnational companies in provinces,” he said.

In addition to Yerevan, the company has offices in Gyumri, Vanadzor and Ijevan.

Shakeel Peera said he is impressed by his latest meetings and discussions in Armenia. “I am sure that high quality solution, software and algorithms of global significance applied in various sectors will come out of this building. Representatives of this team will create many innovations. They are doing everything to make Armenia a participant of the developing global processes,” he said.

Rajeev Jayaraman praised the quality and skills of the Armenian professionals.

“For us, Armenia’s appeal is not only the talent and quality, but also the cultural and mentality specifics,” he said, lauding the Armenian school for developing skilled professionals.
