YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan received the newly appointed Ambassador of Germany to Armenia, Claudia Bush.
According to the ministry, Simidyan welcomed Ambassador Bush and congratulated her on her appointment, wishing her success in strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
"The German government is a reliable and important partner for Armenia, particularly in our sectoral reforms. The Armenian government is committed to the effective implementation of all programs with the German side and is ready to expand the scope of cooperation," Minister Simidyan stated.
In turn, Ambassador Bush congratulated the Government of Armenia, especially the Ministry of Environment, on being chosen as the host country for the Seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
"The protection of biodiversity is a priority in the environmental agendas of both the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Republic of Germany. We are ready to cooperate in the organization and preparation of the conference," Minister Simidyan said.
The parties discussed programs supported by the German government, including the "Biodiversity and Sustainable Local Development in Armenia" program, with a total budget of around 26 million euros. They also explored potential cooperation in water resources management. Minister Simidyan expressed his willingness to deepen collaboration in all possible areas.
