Yerevan Mayor appoints new spox

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has appointed former lawmaker Julietta Azaryan as his new spokesperson following the resignation of Artyom Karapetyan.

Azaryan served as a Member of Parliament in the previous legislature, representing Civil Contract.

Azaryan thanked the mayor for entrusting her with the position in a social media post.

“For me, this is first and foremost a great responsibility: to represent the work of Yerevan City Hall, the activities of the mayor and the municipal team, as well as to ensure open, prompt and effective communication with the public and the media. I understand that the work of a press secretary is not limited to conveying information. It is also a responsibility to be accessible, accurate and consistent, listen to questions, ensure proper communication, and present to the public important processes related to life in Yerevan and urban governance. I particularly want to emphasize my readiness to build close and partnership-based cooperation with all media outlets and journalists. I would like to express my special thanks to Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan for the great trust he has shown and for entrusting me with this responsible position,” Azaryan said in a statement on social media.
