State Duma Chairman endorses Armenian counterpart’s offer for parliamentary format on regional security issues

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 10, ARMENPRESS. Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin expressed support to Armenian Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan’s proposal to discuss regional security issues in a parliamentary format involving Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
During the meeting with Simonyan in Moscow, Chairman Volodin also addressed the state of the Russian language in Armenia. He highlighted the issue of opening Russian language schools in Armenia.
“Volodin also offered the Armenian delegation to expand the agenda during their visit to Moscow. The Members of Parliament will meet with leaders of all State Duma factions and committees to develop the items of future work. These meetings must result in concrete proposals for inter-parliamentary partnership between the State Duma and the Armenian National Assembly,” the State Duma’s press service said.
Volodin and Simonyan agreed to hold another meeting on October 11.
