Azerbaijan wants to make peace not only with the Armenian government, but also with the Armenian people, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev said during his speech at the CAMCA 2026 Regional Forum held in Baku, APA news agency reported.
Hikmet Hajiyev said that there is currently de facto peace and security in the region, and preserving this is important in terms of protecting the South Caucasus from the negative effects of broader regional processes: “The good news is that there is peace and security in the Caucasus. If security and peace had not been ensured in the Caucasus, we would probably have faced a completely different situation and realities in our region.”
According to him, following the resolution of the long-running conflict with Armenia, Azerbaijan considers achieving peace and consolidating it in practice a priority.
