Convicted Armenian truck driver to be extradited from Russia

YEREVAN, APRIL 25, ARMENPRESS. Hrachya Harutyunyan, the Armenian truck driver who is serving a prison term in Russia’s Tambov city, will be extradited to Armenia, deputy minister of justice of Armenia Vigen Kocharyan told ARMENPRESS.

Harutyunyan was sentenced to 6 years and 9 months imprisonment for the deadly car crash which resulted in 18 deaths in Podolsk on July 13, 2013. Harutyunyan’s Kamaz cargo vehicle crashed into a passenger bus.

“Armenian authorities and the justice ministry had made efforts for the convict’s transfer and currently the obstacle of financial obligations in transferring Hrachya Harutyunyan to Armenia is eliminated”, Kocharyan said.
