Italy calls Armenia to increase number of peacemakers in Lebanon

ROME, APRIL 9, ARMENPRESS: Italy called the Republic of Armenia to increase the number of the Armenian peacemakers in Lebanon under the auspices of the UN. This issue will be on the agenda of the meeting of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Minister of Defense of Italy Roberta Pinotti, to be held in the framework of the official visit of the Armenia’s President to Italy. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Italy Sargis Ghazaryan informed the journalists about it on April 8.

“The Armenian-Italian political dialogue has been supplemented with another direction. Armenian peacemakers implement mission in the South Lebanon as a part of the Italian forces. The participation of the Armenians in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission is highly appreciated by Italy.This is the reason why the Italian side has applied to Armenia to increase the number of the Armenian peacemakers, - said the Ambassador, Armenpress reports.

The meeting of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Minister of Defense of Italy Roberta Pinotti will be followed by a videoconference with the Armenian and Italian servicemen in Lebanon.
