Iranian trading house to open soon in Yerevan, Armenia plans similar center in Tehran

YEREVAN, JUNE 14, ARMENPRESS. An Iranian trading house will soon be opened in Yerevan, and work is underway to establish a similar Armenian center in Tehran, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced at a press conference marking the 100th day of his tenure.

"I have mentioned the copper cathode plant. We also have other projects, which I will not discuss now because they are still under active discussion. In the case of the cathode plant, we already have a concrete process.

I believe we should be able to increase our future turnover in this way (referring to trade with Iran). We need to produce and export here. Additionally, an Iranian trading house will soon be opened in Yerevan, and Iranians are also interested in opening an Armenian trading house in Tehran. We are currently working in that direction with our business partners.

There should be products that are competitively priced and attractive for Iranians. In this regard, in-depth marketing research is also needed. As soon as that product list and interest are established, I believe that the Armenian and Iranian governments have the political will to support the opening of the trading house," said the Minister of Economy.

He added that Iran, having been under sanctions for many years, has developed its economy in such a way that the cost of many products produced there is very low due to its rich mineral resources. In this context, according to the minister, it is very difficult to enter the Iranian market with standard products and compete. According to Gevorg Papoyan, Iran is only interested in products that are not produced domestically.
