Tigran Khzmalyan, “In the Sphere of Foreign Policy the Interests of Armenia and Iran Coincide”

YEREVAN, JUNE 24, AREMNPRESS: In the sphere of foreign policy the interests of Armenia and Iran coincide, members of the foreign political commission of the initiative group of “Sardarapat” movement Tigran Khzmalyan and Hayk Balanyan said at today’s press conference noting that those interests coincide not only in regard of policy toward Turkey, but toward Azerbaijan as well. They highlighted the statement of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan voiced in Berlin, according to which Armenia must take into consideration the opinion of Iran.

“The tension over Artsakh and Nakhijevan creates one more field of Armenian-Iranian common interests. It is the inadmissibility of the penetration of foreign armed forces to the region, which is equally important for Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh Republic and Iran,” member of the initiative group T. Khzmalyan said.

“Iran is interested that a balance is maintained in the region,” Hayk Balanyan said adding that Armenia must assume Armenia-centralized foreign policy, which suggests national interest, regional peace and respectable friendly relations with all the neighbors.
