Armenian Deputy Prime Minister announces disagreements in EEU over energy markets

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, ARMENPRESS.Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan announced at the extended session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Nesvizh, Belarus that economic indicators of EEU are increasing. However, in order to form common markets (including in the energy sector), it is necessary to make qualitative changes like trade, reported TASS.

“The most important factor in the development of the EEU is the formation of common energy markets. We hope for a constructive approach from our partners, which will allow us to resolve several existing disagreements and achieve progress through practical steps aimed at implementing the key principles laid down in the concept of integration in the Eurasian space,” said Mher Grigoryan.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia added that the EEU approached the end of the first decade of its formation with positive economic indicators, the problem of achieving the main goal, the formation of a common market, depends not so much on the indicators of the mutual trade volumes of the member states, but on its qualitative characteristics.

Among other urgent problems of the EEU, the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia highlighted the need to develop transport corridors, as well as financial mechanisms for supporting various projects within the union and the need to improve ways to ensure food security.

"In order to increase the efficiency of the use of available resources, ensure uninterrupted access to food and eliminate obstacles, including transportation and logistics, in order to eliminate it, we consider it necessary to develop comprehensive approaches to that issue [ensuring food security]," said Mher Grigoryan.
