Armenian top diplomat will not participate in CSTO Foreign Ministers Council Meeting

YEREVAN, JULY 19, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will not participate in the session of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council to be held on June 21 in Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan, Ani Badalyan, spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, said  in response to an inquiry from Armenpress.

At the session, chaired by Kazakhstan, the Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states plan to discuss international developments, the regional situation, and mechanisms for strengthening coordination in foreign policy. They will also review the multifaceted cooperation within the organization. The Council is expected to approve a number of draft decisions, which will be submitted for approval during the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council on November 28 of this year.

In February 2024, Armenia announced the suspension of its membership in the CSTO and later refused to pay its membership fees to the organization. On June 12, during a speech in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not rule out the possibility that Armenia might leave the CSTO in the future.
