Axe-wielding man subdued by bank security officer in apparent heist attempt in downtown Yerevan

YEREVAN, JANUARY 29, ARMENPRESS. An axe-wielding man has been subdued and arrested in downtown Yerevan in an apparent attempted bank heist, police said.

Police responded to a call on a man armed with an axe having entered the VTB bank’s branch in Baghramyan avenue at 13:50.

Police said that an on-duty police officer at the bank subdued the assailant.

Officers arrested the assailant.

Other details weren’t immediately clear.

No injuries have been reported.
