Supreme Judicial Council doesn’t enter into communication with judges on any judicial case

YEREVAN, JANUARY 28, ARMENPRESS. The Supreme Judicial Council rules out any interference to justice, President of the Supreme Judicial Council Gagik Harutyunyan told reporters today, reports Armenpress.

“The Supreme Judicial Council rules out any interference to justice. And we absolutely do not enter into any kind of communication regarding any judicial case. I am confident that there is also such an attitude by the political leadership. But eventually, the judges are also persons and they maybe are in the field of certain social influences”, he said.

He noted that the independence of the judge is not only the “telephone independence”, there are all preconditions which enable the judge to act completely independently. “We have now specified nearly 32 priorities the coordinated solution of which will allow to create a field of guarantees”, Harutyunyan said.

Commenting on the wiretapping cases of officials and the content of recording, Gagik Harutyunyan said any interference is concerning, but the content of that interference should be disclosed. “The first step we did, we tried to talk to the judge. He made a written statement that he has not been in any kind of communication”, he said.
