Serzh Sargsyan meets with Executive Director of ‘Qatar Airways’ in Doha

YEREVAN, MAY 15, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on May 15 met with Executive Director of ‘Qatar Airways’ Akbar Al Baker within the frames of official visit in the State of Qatar, press service of the President’s Office told Armenpress.
The sides discussed the process of bilateral partnership in the aviation field and the development opportunities. President Sargsyan said the flights operated by ‘Qatar Airways’ play a significant role in expanding the bilateral inter-state relations’ agenda.
The President stated that the existence of direct flights significantly contribute to increasing the number of tourists visiting Armenia from the Gulf countries, including from Qatar.
Stating that Armenia adopted ‘Open Sky’ policy since 2013, the Armenian President said the policy run by Armenia in civil aviation and air communication field provides new opportunities to the Armenian and foreign airlines by ensuring equal and free competitive conditions for all.
Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia will welcome and assist Qatari investors in all spheres of Armenia’s economy, including the aviation sector.
Executive Director of ‘Qatar Airways’ Akbar Al Baker informed President Sargsyan that the Emir of Qatar tasked him to develop mutual partnership with Armenia and assured that he will do everything to fulfill the task. Akbar Al Baker said the airlines sees a potential to develop the cooperation and seeks to develop the mutually beneficial relations.
