President Sargsyan receives delegation of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on October 19 received the delegation of scientists led by Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR), Doctor in Physics and Mathematics, Professor Victor Matveev, press service of the Presidential administration told “Armenpress”.

The delegation members have arrived in Armenia to take part in “JINR Days in Armenia” conference.

The conference is being held on October 19-22 in Yerevan and is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the JINR and the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s membership to the JINR.

President Sargsyan welcomed the guests and attached an importance on holding the conference in Yerevan with the participation of famous scientists, high-ranking guests, heads of diplomatic representations of 17 member states of the JINR.

Serzh Sargsyan said such meetings in one place with the participation of prominent scientists is a good opportunity for the representatives of the scientific community, as well as for the young scientists to have a direct contact with persons who achieved significant results in the scientific sector. The President said such events provide an opportunity for dialogue between the people representing different scientific schools aimed at outlining new directions of cooperation and discussing contemporary issues of the sector. The Armenian President attached an importance to the participation of Armenian scientists in international scientific programs.

Serzh Sargsyan said Armenia is comprehensively promoting the development of science as much as possible.

On behalf of the delegation Victor Matveev expressed gratitude for hosting the conference at the highest level in Armenia. He briefed the President on the activity of the JINR and the upcoming projects. He said with satisfaction that over the past 25 years since its membership Armenia has actively participated in the activities of the institute.
