President Sargsyan holds meeting with Russian Transportation Minister’s delegation

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received on October 14 co-chair of the Armenian-Russian inter-governmental commission, Minister of Transportation of Russia Maxim Sokolov’s delegation, which has arrived in Armenia to take part in the 5th Armenian-Russian interregional cooperation forum.

In the beginning of the meeting Serzh Sargsyan thanked Russian authorities for providing assistance to the victims of the October 14 bus crash, which was en route from Moscow to Yerevan, and for assisting in the elimination of the consequences of this tragic traffic accident, which resulted in five deaths and more than two dozen injured.

The Russian Minister of Transportation expressed condolences on behalf of the entire delegation to the families and relatives of the victims, and expressed support to all the injured.

“I, as Transportation Minister of Russia, keep everything regarding this incident under my personal supervision, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is involved, and so are all necessary forces and resources, including the Healthcare Ministry. Currently all the wounded passengers are in the hospitals of Vladikavkaz and Beslan, and receive quality medical assistance. We will do everything to minimize the consequences of this traffic accident”, Sokolov said.

The sides touched upon the activities of the Armenian-Russian interregional Yerevan session, by attaching importance to this event which brings together the Armenian and Russian authorities, representatives of the public and business circles.

Underscoring the centuries-old close ties based on friendship and brotherhood which tie Armenia and Russia, Serzh Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that the inter-governmental allied relations are confidently developing today, the most important component being interregional cooperation.

“Our states have united in one economic region, and the free movement of products, services, capital and workforce creates new opportunities for boosting bilateral economic relations. And during these days we also hold the Eurasian Partnership’s first international forum for discovering this very kind of opportunities.

I wish you productive work for the benefit of our peoples and states”, President Sargsyan said.

Minister Maxim Sokolov and Russian Governors of the delegation also highly praised the de-centralized and successfully developing cooperation between Armenia and Russia, finding the fact that the forum is being held in Armenia these days very symbolic. They expressed hope that the format will become a productive platform for bringing closer the economies, and cooperation in all directions.

The delegation thanked for hosting the international forum in Yerevan on a high level and creating all necessary conditions for the works.
