Armenian Healthcare Minister chairs World Health Assembly session

YEREVAN, MAY 23, ARMENPRESS. The 69th World Health Assembly is taking place in Geneva from May 23-28.

Armenian Healthcare Minister A. Muradyan is taking part in the Assembly as Deputy Chairman from the European region.

Today Muradyan chaired the session of the Assembly.

In his May 24 speech the minister spoke about Nagorno Karabakh as well. He made comparisons, by saying the destructions of contagious disease spreading mosquitoes is sometimes easier than explaining certain politicians that they cannot bombard civilians, destroy an ambulance with a tank, fire at schools and medical facilities.

The Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States. Its main functions are to determine the policies of the Organization, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.

Healthcare Minister of Armenia A. Muradyan is invited to take part in the session as Deputy Chairman.

This is the first time Armenia is taking part in the Assembly with the Deputy Chairing status.
