Noubar Afeyan calls on Azerbaijani authorities to release Ruben Vardanyan and other Armenian hostages

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Prominent scientist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Noubar Afeyan has made a statement on X, calling on the Azerbaijani authorities to release his friend and partner, Ruben Vardanyan, along with all other hostages held in Baku.

"Today marks one year since my friend and partner, Ruben Vardanyan was forcibly and unlawfully arrested by Azerbaijan, where he remains illegally jailed in Baku with many other Armenians in a clear violation of their basic human rights.  The world must not observe injustice and do nothing. It’s time to act – especially as Azerbaijan is set to host COP29 – making a mockery of what should be a pivotal climate event for the world – one that considers human rights at the heart of its agenda.

I implore the Azeri government to immediately release Ruben and all the Armenian prisoners unlawfully held in Baku,'' Afeyan has posted.
