Aram I attends ceremony dedicated to memory of Chaldean victims of 1915

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 26, ARMENPRESS. His Holiness Aram I,Catholicos of Cilicia was invited by ChaldeansBishop of Beirut Michel Kassarji to attend the ceremony dedicated to Chaldeanvictims of 1915. “Armenpress” was informed about it from the official website of Catholicosate of Cilicia.

Followers of Chaldean and Assyrian churches were subjected to genocide alongside with the Armenians by the government of the Ottoman Empire during I World war. The number of victims of Chaldeans and Assyrians amounts to half million.

Bishop of Kassarji as well as all the clergymen when giving speeches touched upon the Armenian Genocide referring to the primary role of the Armenians in drawing attention to the genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire as well as Armenians’ demand for justice.

A reference was also made to fraternal ties between the Armenian and ChaldeanChurches as well as the current situation in Iraq and Syria and the hardships that Christians suffered.

At the end of the ceremony His Holiness performed icon consecration ceremony dedicated to Chaldeanvictims.
