Armenian people who survived genocide understand state of mind of refugees

BEIRUT, SEPTEMBER 15, ARMENPRESS. Head of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I discussed the issues of refugees with the participants of interchurch conference dedicated to refugees and emphasized that it is an issue of primary importance especially for Europe.

“Armenpress” reports, referring to Azad Or, that Aram I emphasized that the refugee issue is not a novelty and during history thousands of people left their native lands and settled in the West due to economic, political, security reasons.

“The people of Armenia feel and understand the state of mind of the refugees. Let us not forget that due to the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire in 1915, the people of Armenia became refugees; they were expelled from their centuries’ homeland, the Western Armenia and Cilicia. Let’s not forget that the Arabs, no matter Islamist or Christian accepted us in their homeland.”, said Aram I.
