Catholicos Aram I sends letter to Cyprus President

Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia has sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Cyprus and Speaker of the Parliament, expressing gratitude for the adoption of the draft law criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide. As “Armenpress” reports, the Catholicos referred to the Parliament’s decision as historic.“We were pleased to learn that, on the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the Parliament of Cyprus unanimously took a historic decision on criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide. We will never forget that the Parliament of Cyprus was the second country to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide in 1975. On this joyous occasion, on behalf of our nation, I express deep gratitude to and high appreciation of the Parliament of Cyprus for this historic decision. This courageous decision is a tangible expression of the powerful commitment of the Republic of Cyprus to justice and human rights. We pray to the Lord to defend the Republic of Cyprus from the evils of the new times and lead it towards further advancement and prosperity,”as stated in the letter
