In honor of Armenia’s President official reception was given on behalf of Turkmenistan’s President

YEREVAN, APRIL 8, ARMENPRESS: In honor of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan who paid an official visit to Turkmenistan an official reception was given on behalf of the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov tonight.

The Department of Mass Media and Public Relations of the President’s Office of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that at the mutual toasts the Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedowreacted on the centuries-old friendship and historical past of the Armenian and Turkmen peoples, the current high level of the two countries relations and opportunities for the development of the continuous deepening cooperation of mutual interest.

In his speech the President of Armenia thanked the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedowfor the Armenian-Turkmen relations, warm words for Armenia and the Armenian people. Speaking about the historically established relations between the two peoples Serzh Sargsyan stated that they have a history of centuries- the Armenian-Turkmen first contacts reach until 13-15th centuries. The President assures that the historical past witnesses about the relations between the two peoples based on the mutual respect, readiness of assistance to each other in difficult times. In that context Serzh Sargsyan remembers with gratitude caring and hospitable attitude of the friendly Turkmen people to our compatriots in difficult situations who reached to the former Krasnovodsk by ferries as refugees seeking salvation at the tragic events held both at the beginning of the 20th century, and at the end.
