YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. Levon Aronian relies on the support and auspices of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Chess Federation of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan for the participation in the Candidates Tournament. The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov stated this in an interview to “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” (Independent Newspaper), when he touched upon the Candidates Tournament, which will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, from 13 March to 31 March 2014.
As reports “Armenpress” among other things the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov underscored: “I have studied the market and assessed the situation. Vast budget will only increase the interest towards the main tournament of the year. All the participants of the Candidates Matches are not merely strong chess players, but they have sponsors as well. Levon Aronian relies upon the support of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Chess Federation of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. Vladimir Kramnik enjoys the support of not Russia alone, but also Germany and France, where he currently lives.”
