YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS.The police can carry out service and interfere with the illegal activities in civil clothes in the Republic of Armenia. The employee of the Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the Police of the Republic of Armenia Armen Malkhasyan stated it in a conversation with “Armenpress” reacting upon the defender of Shant Harutyunyan Inessa Petrosyan’s statement made at the press conference convoked on November 29.
Inessa Petrosyan noted at the meeting with the journalists that the policeman who Shant Harutyunyan beat was in civil clothes, so he could not be aware that he was a policeman,” she said. The defender claims that Shant Harutyunyan has no health problems. “He does not recognize himself to be guilty and did not give a testimony. One thing is apparent, we are going to appeal up to the end, Shant Harutyunyan does not suffer from any psychological illnesses,” Inessa Petrosyan underscored.
8 suffered policemen having injuries of different levels were taken to various medical institutions of the capital in the result of the clashes organized by Shant Harutyunyan and his supporters in the Liberty Square and Mashtots Avenue. Press secretary of the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Haytayan informed Armenpress that two of them were taken to the hospital of St. Gregory the Enlightener who had cranial and abdominal injuries in the result of being subjected to stabbing. “6 of the 8 policemen were moved to the 3td clinical hospital,” Anahit Haytayan said.
Ordinary citizens and policemen suffered in the result of the clashes organized by Shant Harutyunyan and the demonstrators in the Liberty Square. Deputy Chief of the Police of the Republic of Armenia Hunan Pogosyan also arrived at the place of the incident. The police of the Republic of Armenia informed that more than two dozen transgressors were brought to the police department. The police also stated that any illegal action will be reacted by the strongest extension, as for the transgressors, they will be punished with all the strictness of the law.
