ARTASHAT, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS: The ‘Khosrov Forest’ State Reserve, which occupies a territory of 23 878 ha, is considered the oldest reserve of the world. A variety of plants and animals, registered in the Red Book, are preserved in ‘Khosrov Forest’. Hovik Tamazyan, first deputy director of the reserve, told Armenpress that they undertake active work for the development of ecotourism in the territory.

He mentioned that from July to December the reserve had 140 foreign and 80 local visitors. The price policy is quite clear-cut: a visitor pays 3000 AMD. Hovik Tamazyan said the reason that the number of local visitors is not so big stems from the stereotype, formed since the Soviet period, that reserves are closed areas. ‘We want to open the doors for everybody and make the unique masterpieces of the nature accessible for everybody,’ he said.
