KAPAN, NOVEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS: On November 15 in Syunik governor office, Governor Surik Khachatryan met with Polish Ambassador to Armenia Zdislav Rachinsky. The ambassador had arrived in Kapan to participate in opening of the drinking water pipeline constructed in Shikahogh village by the funding of the Polish government. At the meeting Mr. Rachinsky referred to Armenian-Polish relations, pointing out that the year of 2010 is successful for both countries in that regard.
According to him, at the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan the official visit of the Polish President to Armenia is expected next year, by which a new page will open in relations of the two countries.
The ambassador said that the programs implemented by the Polish party in Armenia up to now are not very expansive, and they must be considered a visiting card for getting introduced to Armenia. With his request Mr. Khachatryan referred to the performance indicators of mining industrial enterprises of the province, noting that the three mills have already overcome the consequences of the economic crisis and have reached the production volumes to the level of 2008.
The governor said that he is always ready to continue the established cooperation, singling out agriculture, mining industry and production of knitted fabric as spheres of cooperation. The ambassador was also interested in cooperation of the province with foreign countries. The governor said that the urban communities of the province cooperate with sister towns of France, Greece, USA, Belarusia, Russia, etc.
Zdislav Rachinsky also referred to the longest funicular railway of the world put lately into operation in Tatev – “Tatev Wings”. He was interested to what degree it will contribute to development of tourism in the province. Mr. Khachatryan noted that besides the funicular railway, the province has many picturesque sites, which also can attract tourists. The ambassador expressed wish to visit the temple of Tatev and to see the funicular railway. At the end of the meeting the governor and ambassador exchanges souvenirs.
