Viktor Oknyansky, representing the University of Haifa in Israel, delivered a scientific presentation entitled “Studying Changing-Look Active Galactic Nuclei through Long-Term Multiwavelength Observations and Reverberation Mapping” at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory named after Viktor Ambartsumian, the observatory’s press service said.
The speaker presented findings on the variability of active galactic nuclei, the importance of long-term observations and the research methods used.
Particular attention was paid to the first detections of variability in high-ionisation coronal lines in the galaxies NGC 4151, NGC 1566 and NGC 3516, as well as newly observed instances of variability in several active galactic nuclei.
The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the physical processes occurring in active galactic nuclei and the mechanisms behind their variability.
