Iranian president arrives in New York

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New York late Tuesday night for the U.N. General Assembly, CBS News reported

Pezeshkian said just before leaving for the U.S. that he would "firmly defend" its positions in the war and use the opportunity to "convey Iran's plight.”

Iranian state media reported he will address the world body on Wednesday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier held mediated talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in New York.
