Kremlin welcomes Melania Trump’s meeting with Russian and Ukrainian representatives

The Kremlin has welcomed US First Lady Melania Trump’s meeting with representatives of Russia and Ukraine, noting the parties’ willingness to continue their humanitarian work, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

“Of course, this is a very positive meeting, and the main thing is that the positive attitude and willingness to continue such humanitarian work remain,” the Interfax news agency quoted him as saying.

Peskov said Melania Trump and her team had made considerable efforts to carry out a humanitarian operation in the frontline town of Oleshky in the Kherson region.

“They worked together with the ombudsmen of both countries. On our side, Yana Lantratova did a great deal of work, which Melania Trump herself acknowledged,” he added.

On 5 November, Melania Trump held a meeting at the White House with Russian and Ukrainian representatives devoted to the humanitarian mission in Oleshky. Russia was represented by Yana Lantratova and Russian presidential special representative Kirill Dmitriev. Ukraine was represented by Davyd Arakhamia, head of the parliamentary group of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s party, and Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets.
