Armenian regulatory body, IMF discuss energy and water sector issues

The Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) of the Republic of Armenia, Mesrop Mesropyan, received Alexander Tieman, IMF Mission Chief for Armenia, and the mission’s energy sector experts.

The PSRC said that during the meeting, current issues related to the development and regulation of Armenia’s energy and water sectors were discussed.

In particular, the possibilities for the development and use of electric energy storage facilities were addressed, as well as their role in ensuring the flexibility and stability of the energy system.

Issues related to electricity tariff policy and tariff formation were also discussed.

Regarding the water sector, drinking and irrigation water tariffs, as well as the specifics of their formation and regulation, were addressed.

The sides emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and exchange of experience aimed at the development of the sector.
