The 25-day training exercises are effective, but problems remain in their organisation and implementation, Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan said during a briefing at the National Assembly, commenting on the 25-day training exercises for reservists and reports concerning their effectiveness.

“We regularly conduct surveys, the assessments vary, and we are taking steps to improve the quality of this service year by year because there is no alternative. We must do everything possible to keep our reserve forces prepared,” Papikyan said.

According to him, the 25-day training exercises are a short and easy option that is also convenient for citizens because it requires less time.

“Twenty-five days do not cause a person as much disruption to their work or physical strain as the previous three-month period did. Naturally, we have chosen this optimal period so that, even while taking time away from work, a person can readapt to the army, refresh their skills and, of course, become part of our reserve forces,” the Defence Minister said.

Papikyan said the 25-day training exercises were effective, adding that work was continuing to address the existing problems.
