Temperatures across Armenia are expected to rise by 5-6°C by Aug. 23-24, reaching as high as 38-40°C in Yerevan, the Ararat Valley and the valleys of Syunik due to the influx of a tropical warm air mass from regions of Iraq, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center said.
The highest temperatures will be recorded on Aug. 24, reaching +32…+33°C in mountainous regions, +36…+37°C in foothill areas, and +38…+40°C in valley areas, particularly in Yerevan, the Ararat Valley and the valleys of Syunik.
Starting Aug. 26, the warm air currents will gradually recede and temperatures will begin to fall. Dry weather is expected across Armenia on Aug. 21-24, while short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected in some areas during the evening hours on Aug. 25-26.
A high fire danger is expected from Aug. 21-26 in Yerevan, the Ararat Valley, and the foothill areas of Aragatsotn, Kotayk and Vayots Dzor.
