Cooler week ahead, meteorologist says

This week, air temperatures across Armenia will drop by 4–6 degrees, as the country will be under the influence of moist and cold air masses moving in from the Black Sea from August 10 to 15, according to the country’s chief meteorologist.

Gagik Surenyan, deputy director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center, said rain is expected during the period.

“Over the next five days, from August 10 to 15, Armenia will be under the influence of moist and cold air masses moving in from the Black Sea. As a result, on August 10–11, temperatures across the country will drop by 4–6 degrees compared with August 9.

“Short-lived thunderstorms and rain are expected in most regions in the evening and overnight hours, with heavy rainfall possible in some areas. Hail is also possible. During thunderstorms, winds are expected to strengthen, reaching speeds of 20–25 meters per second,” Surenyan said on social media.

Daytime temperatures in Armenia’s hottest areas — the Ararat Valley, Yerevan and the valleys of Syunik — will not exceed 33–35 degrees Celsius.
