Sam Neill's cause of death revealed

New Zealand actor Sam Neill died of pneumonia, his agent has confirmed.

Neill, 78, best known for his roles in Jurassic Park and The Piano, died in Sydney on July 13.

In a statement posted on the actor's social media accounts, his family said he died in Sydney "suddenly and unexpectedly."

Neill was diagnosed with blood cancer several years ago, but the disease had gone into remission following years of treatment. His family said in the statement that he "did not have cancer" at the time of his death.

Throughout his career, Neill appeared in numerous films and television productions, including Peaky Blinders, The Hunt for Red October and Omen III: The Final Conflict.
