Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Civil Contract Party, has ruled out any illegal interference by the authorities in citizens’ free expression of will during the elections.

Responding to a journalist’s question that opposition forces had throughout the day raised allegations of electoral violations and pressure on the opposition, linking them to the victory of the Civil Contract Party, Pashinyan said he did not share those assessments.

“I rule out any illegal interference by the authorities in the free expression of will of the citizens of Armenia,” Pashinyan said.

At the same time, he maintained that law enforcement agencies had responded to reports concerning alleged vote-buying and other possible violations during the electoral process.

“It is also obvious that the three-headed party of war employed vote-buying and other mechanisms, and our law enforcement bodies, of course, responded. At the same time, the scale of these cases shows that we were not able to uncover everything completely, and the rest will become clear in due course,” the prime minister said.
