CSTO says Armenia’s withdrawal decision must be made by leadership or the people

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) continues to consider Armenia a full member, since Yerevan has not submitted any official decision to terminate its membership, CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov has said.
“I think this is a political issue, and so far, the Collective Security Treaty Organization continues to consider Armenia a full member,” TASS quoted the CSTO Secretary General as saying after the bloc’s defense ministerial meeting.
“No other instructions or decisions have been received from the Republic of Armenia.”
Masadikov also addressed the question of Armenia’s possible withdrawal from the CSTO, emphasizing that such a decision must be made by the Armenian authorities or the people.
“The decision regarding Armenia’s possible withdrawal from the CSTO must be made by the country’s leadership or its people,” he stated.
Armenia has frozen its participation in the CSTO since February 2024, because the organization has not fulfilled its security obligations toward the country.
