Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia highly appreciates Poland’s support for the country’s democratic reforms and the ongoing peace process, during a joint statement with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Pashinyan noted that it had been a long time since an Armenian prime minister paid an official visit to Poland at the highest level, adding that the current visit marks a new stage in bilateral relations. He thanked Prime Minister Tusk for the invitation and warm reception.

The Armenian Prime Minister also referred to Tusk’s tenure as President of the European Council, emphasizing that Armenia had consistently felt his support on the path of democratic reforms. He stressed that Poland’s support for Armenia’s democratic agenda and peace efforts in the region is highly valued.

Pashinyan highlighted Poland’s positive assessments of the law “On Launching the Accession Process of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union” adopted last year, noting that such support provides additional confidence for Armenia to continue reforms aimed at aligning the country with European and EU standards.

According to Pashinyan, democratic reforms are a complex process often accompanied by challenges and criticism, adding that Poland serves as an example of how democracy, a strong security system, and economic development can be successfully combined.

Referring to the peace process, the Prime Minister noted that Europe’s difficult historical experience ultimately demonstrated that peace remains the highest priority. He emphasized that despite arguments against peace, it is essential to advance policies proving that peace, democracy, and freedom are indispensable.

Pashinyan described Poland’s path in building a democratic society as exemplary for Armenia and, at the conclusion of the statement, invited Prime Minister Tusk to attend the European Political Community summit scheduled to take place in Yerevan in May.
