In the context of unblocking communication routes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, there is a mutual understanding that the sections through which these routes will pass must first be delimited and demarcated, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan made the remarks in an interview with Public Television of Armenia, referring to the next steps in the delimitation process of the Armenia–Azerbaijan interstate border, particularly in the context of reopening communication routes.

According to the Prime Minister, the issue of border delimitation and the implementation of the TRIPP project carry additional nuances, as the border is lengthy and the process will take considerable time under normal circumstances. He noted that the commissions responsible for delimiting the Armenia–Azerbaijan state border are currently working remotely, drafting various documents and protocols.

“In fact, daily work is being carried out. Border delimitation is a very detailed and complex process that is ongoing and will continue,” the Prime Minister emphasized.Addressing communication routes in the context of demarcation, Pashinyan said Yerevan and Baku share a mutual understanding on how the process should be organized.

“There is an understanding that in such cases the delimitation process should be organized somewhat differently. In sections where a railway, pipeline, or power line is to pass, let us assume that an area 500 meters wide is required. We must first carry out delimitation and demarcation over at least 1.5 kilometers, so that neither party has any doubts, define the border with millimeter-level accuracy, and only then address issues related to the communication lines,” the Prime Minister said.
