Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the issue of Armenians illegally imprisoned in Baku was discussed during his meeting with U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
Pashinyan made the remarks in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.
“Yesterday, most of the statements by the U.S. Vice President were already economic rather than political, which means that the August 8 statement has succeeded,” the Prime Minister said.
“We did not discuss the border situation or regional tensions, which means that there are no such issues on the agenda. Of course, issues related to the conflict or post-conflict situation remain on the agenda and are discussed in all cases — in particular, the issue of our compatriots held in Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the issue of Armenians held in Baku had already been raised on August 8 during Armenia–United States discussions.
“The issue was on the agenda and was discussed. In practice, there is no relevant negotiation in which we do not address this issue,” Pashinyan said.
