Armenia declares 2026 May 4 non-working day ahead of European Political Community Summit

The Armenian government on Thursday designated May 4, 2026, as a non-working day to ease traffic during the European Political Community Summit to be held in Yerevan.

The summit will take place on May 3 and 4, 2026.

Around 50 high-level delegations are expected to participate in the summit, including heads of state and government and heads of international organizations.

According to Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, organizing Yerevan’s transport traffic more efficiently has made it necessary to shift the working day.

“The working day of May 4 is being moved to Saturday, April 18. Considering that the preceding three days are also non-working days, we deemed it necessary to make this decision in advance so that our citizens can plan their holidays,” he said at the Cabinet meeting, adding that as a result, May 1, 2, 3, and 4 will be non-working days.

May 1 is marked as Labour Day in Armenia. This year, May 2 and 3 fall on Saturday and Sunday.

Harutyunyan also said that Armenia’s selection as the host country for the summit demonstrates the country’s active involvement and commitment to enhancing regional cooperation.
