Armenian law enforcement agencies have raided a fake call center in Yerevan involved in international scamming.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement that officers from the Police and Investigative Committee searched an office based on intelligence gathered by the Cybercrime Division of the Criminal Police.

A video released by the ministry shows special operatives breaching the office allegedly used by the scammers.

Several suspects, including foreign nationals, were allegedly running the fake call center to defraud unsuspecting international victims. According to authorities, the criminal syndicate is linked to similar fake call centers operating abroad and targeting victims in Armenia.

The November 20 operation marks the fourth fake call center uncovered this year.

The organizers of the scam operation had trained their accomplices to erase evidence from computers in the event of a police raid, but failed to do so because the operation was executed swiftly and by surprise.

Authorities did not disclose how many suspects were involved. The Ministry said it is collaborating with international partners to obtain information on the defrauded victims.
