Prosecutor-General Anna Vardapetyan has approved jailed lawyer Alexander Kochubayev’s request for emergency bail.
He has been granted release with a travel ban, Lusine Martirosyan, Vardapetyan’s advisor, announced.
Vardapetyan had the authority to overrule the detention decision, as the criminal case had not yet been forwarded to the court with a prosecutorial conclusion.
Alexander Kochubayev, jailed since October 16 on contempt of court and libel charges, requested emergency release on bail through his lawyer after his wife suffered postnatal complications. Kochubayev’s attorney submitted the motion, along with medical documents, to Prosecutor-General Anna Vardapetyan.
