DigiTec 2025 kicks off in Yerevan, showcasing Armenia’s growing tech ecosystem

DigiTec 2025, Armenia's leading tech event connecting global innovators, startups, and investors, kicked off in Yerevan on Friday, with government officials and industry leaders in attendance.

Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, in his remarks at the opening ceremony, said the event is a valuable opportunity to showcase Armenia’s technological achievements and outline the next steps.

The minister congratulated attendees on the 20th anniversary of DigiTec, noting that this year’s edition marks its jubilee.

Hayrapetyan highlighted major developments in the tech sector over the past year, including legislative reforms, the government’s $100 million investment in a seven-year IT support program, and, notably, the August 8 Armenia–United States strategic memorandum aimed at fostering innovative partnerships in the fields of AI and the semiconductor industry.

“It is important that, in order to achieve our dreams, each of us consistently and with great dedication does our work in our respective roles. Only in that case can great dreams come true. I hope that during these three days, we will inspire and encourage one another to move toward the realization of even greater dreams,” Hayrapetyan said.

Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan also delivered remarks at the event.
He noted that this year, Yerevan is hosting the DigiTec forum as a city that is already building its own digital future.

"Our engagement this year is more prominent. We are standing by DigiTec as a partner that has succeeded in integrating innovation into urban governance. For us, technology is a tool to make the city more efficient, greener, and more human-centered," Mayor Avinyan said.

The mayor noted that, during the forum, visitors will also be introduced to Yerevan’s digital initiatives, such as the "Active Citizen" platform, electronic services, and smart transportation and management systems.

"These are not isolated programs under a digitalization strategy, but the result of a unified mindset—a new culture of public governance where technology serves human convenience, improves the quality of urban life, and ensures transparency. Today, Yerevan is proving how technology can transform urban life," he added.

Avinyan emphasized that DigiTec brings together public and private sector actors, along with international partners, creating new opportunities for the development of Armenia’s technological ecosystem.

Investor and tech leader Alexander Yesayan, the President of Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), the organizer of DigiTec, said in his remarks that Armenia is currently a regional leader in IT.
